Goin’ for #12!

Posted on 21 April 2009 by Zod

The weather is much nicer tonight, but since it was snowing in parts of the area yesterday, I guess that doesn’t say much. Tonight’s match- ups are Ian Kennedy vs. Dillon Gee for the Bisons (Mets). Love that name.

There are showers in the forecast, so there may be a delay, but I think they will make every effort to get this game in. Tonight’s opponents are the affiliate of the New York Mets which means there are Met’s fans littering the landscape. They are only slightly less annoying than Pawtucket fans.

Tonight we go for #12! The Lineup:

Doug Bernier 2B

John Rodriguez LF

Todd Linden RF

Shelley Duncan DH

Juan Miranda 1B

Austin Jackson CF

Angel Berroa SS

Eric Duncan 3B

Chris Stewart C

Sparkling D

First inning and Miranda made a sparkling play on a hard hit ball over the bag at 1st, IPK covering. Then, Doug Bernier ranged to behind 2nd and did a “Jeter” throw to 1st to just nip the Andy Green. 3rd out hit back to the box and it’s a 1-2-3 1st.

IPK strikes out the side in the 2nd

Evans, Abreu, & Cooper, see ya!

IPK lost the plate in the 3rd

Cancel singles, Reyes walks, Coronado sac bunt, Sullivan walks & the bases are loaded. He strikes out Andy Green, but Fernando Martinez hit a single to left & it’s 1-0 Buffalo.

The single in left should have been caught in my opinion! John Rodriguez pulled up at the last minute.

Got one back in the 3rd

Back to back singles by Stewart & Bernier, Rodriguez is HBP to load  the bases. Sac fly by Linden brings in 1 run. BTW, Buffalo scored 2  runs on that single in the top of the inning, so it’s 2-1 Buffalo.

Rain, then a 6th inning rally!

It’s raining here and I had to move to the concorse and I lost the WiFi connection. To recap the 6th inning, after a fly out by John Rodriguez, Todd Linden & Shelley Duncan singled. Ken Takahashi then replaced Gee and all hell broke loose. He wild pitched Linden and Duncan to 2nd & 3rd, then walked Miranda. Then, with the bases loaded, Austin Jackson lined a single to left scoring Linden. Berroa then grounded to third to score Duncan, but Jackson was erased at second. Then with Miranda at third and Berroa at 1st, Eric Duncan walked to reload the bases. Elmer Dessens came in and got Chris Stewart to ground into a forceout, Eric Duncan out at second, but SWB leads 3-2.

8th inning, and when it rains, it pours!

Well, the lead didn’t last long, Dave Robertson came in in the 7th and retired the side with no problem. In the 8th, a pass ball on a strikeout, a single, a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, and a walk loaded the bases for the Bisons. A sac fly scored the tie run and a comebacker to Robertson scored run #2 when he threw to 1st. Then a Michel Abreu single scored the third run, and was able to get to 2nd on Todd Lindens throw. J.B.Cox came in and gave up the 4th run of the inning on a hit by Jason Cooper. Buffalo 6, SWB 3, ME WET!

The streak is over, I’m wet and cold, SWB loses 7-3

Posted on 21 April 2009 by Zod

Buffalo added a run in the ninth, the rain never stopped, I had to put up with two obnoxious Mets fans most of the night, and the streak is over as the Bisons win, 7-3. This is one of the most miserable nights I have ever spent at a ballpark. It is pouring rain, and by the time I get to my car whatever clothing I have left that is dry will be soaked. The only good news is that IPK has a very decent outing, good off-speed stuff and only had the one bad inning in the 3rd. He left the game with the lead, the bullpen let him down.

I’m outta here!
